My name is Dr Samira Neshat, and I am a Consultant General Paediatrician practising at The Portland Hospital and Cromwell Hospital. I have dedicated my career to caring for children, and supporting families through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. I completed my general paediatric training in Germany in 2004; before pursuing higher specialist training in Paediatric Critical Care at Great Ormond Street Hospital in the UK; And at Yale New Haven Hospital in the United States, where I also earned a Master's degree in Public Health. I am also licensed to practise medicine in both the UK, and the US. This training has allowed me to develop expertise in both general paediatrics, and the care of critically ill children. Most recently, I worked as a Consultant Paediatric Intensive Care Specialist, at Royal London Hospital - a major trauma center for children. These experiences have shaped my approach to medicine, reinforcing my commitment to providing compassionate; evidence-based care - that is tailored to the needs of each child, and family. Giving back to the community is also an important part of my work. I currently serve as a Medical Advisor to Dreams Come True - a UK charity that supports children living with serious, and life-limiting conditions. In this voluntary role, I provide clinical guidance on medical eligibility and complex care needs, helping the charity create meaningful experiences for children and their families. I have also supported the work of Cardiac Alliance, and the International Children's Heart Foundation, through healthcare initiatives in North Macedonia and Honduras. I am also a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the Paediatric Intensive Care Society; and I remain committed to lifelong learning and the continued advancement of paediatric care. Outside of medicine, my greatest joy is my family. Raising my three children has given me a deeper appreciation of the concerns and hopes that parents bring when seeking care for their children, and it continues to inspire both my personal and professional life. After all; paediatrics teaches you that children are remarkably resilient - and parents are remarkably strong.
